High-Fire Clay & Cone 9–10 Pottery Clay

A heavily grogged, off-white clay body designed specifically for the extreme demands of sculptural work. It is also a good throwing body because it is plastic and does not have very large grog. Due to its strength, it is also excellent for Raku and other special firing methods.

SMOOTH SCULPTURE CLAY, is a high fire sculpture clay blended to be smooth, yet strong. Fires off white. It sticks well to itself for fine detail sculpting, with extra fine grog. The addition of 200 mesh Mullite & Kyanite create the perfect SMOOTH clay for sculpting, with lower shrinkage, and greater warp/crack resistance. Smooth Sculpture also throws well!

This clay is the same formula as Soldate-30, but contains finer 60 mesh sand. The texture is medium coarse.

Smooth, off white clay. Excellent for functional ware.

Stoneware #5 fires to a medium buff in oxidation and a toasted tan in reduction. Stoneware #5 contains a fine silica sand formulated to produce an especially good wheel clay and rugged vitreous stoneware pottery. Recommended for dinnerware. A favorite of many professional studio potters.

A grolleg kaolin formulated Cone 10 porcelain excellent for large or small forms. Translucent when construction is thin and fired to Cone 10. The color is white in oxidation and off-white in reduction.

An interesting light gray body with fine sand. A Cone 10 (and higher) clay which fires off-white in oxidation and gray/white in reduction. Also good for Raku at low temperature. Care should be taken at high fire use in functional ware. Slightly open body even at Cone 10.
